MBA in Artificial Intelligence — Business Track

(Invitation-Based Admission)

1. Institutional Context

The Swiss Institute of Artificial Intelligence (SIAI) is a Switzerland-based research institution focused on artificial intelligence, data science, and applied quantitative methods. The Gordon School of Business (GSB) under SIAI and in conjunction with the Gordon Institute of Artificial Intelligence, administers degree-granting graduate programs in artificial intelligence and business.

GSB operates with independent academic governance, financial administration, and degree certification. SIAI supports research, curriculum development, and academic supervision but does not directly administer degree finances or graduation approvals.

This program is delivered in English and is intended for an international cohort.

4. Track Policy

The standard program offering is limited to the Business Track.

A Technical Track may be attempted only on a conditional basis. Continuation requires consistent achievement of performance thresholds across all examinations and evaluations. Progression is determined exclusively by academic results. Candidates who do not meet the required standard are not advanced.

An example of the first course examination for the Technical Track is provided below for reference.

Historically, the majority of candidates attempting the Technical Track do not meet the continuation threshold.

There are two more course term papers for your reference.

Business Track sits in the same course with Technical Track, but different evaluations. Instead of final examinations and term papers, pass condition is to provide an essay implementing learned concept from the course. Successful cases are placed on SIAI Student Review.

5. Academic Requirements

  • All degree requirements include a final, in-person academic presentation in Zurich.
  • Academic evaluation and graduation approval are conducted under GSB governance.
  • No local or offline instructional support is provided outside the formal program structure.

What is the relationship between SIAI and GSB?

SIAI provides academic and research coordination.
The Gordon School of Business administers degree programs, including tuition collection, academic governance, and graduation certification. These functions are institutionally separated.

Is this an online program?

Instruction is delivered online. However, the program is not fully remote. All degree candidates must complete a final, in-person academic presentation in Zurich.

Is technical background required?

The Business Track does not require advanced technical credentials, although high school mathematics and statistics are generally necessary. If you have done linear algebra and differential equations at undergraduate level, that will be a huge plus.

The Technical Track requires sustained performance across all assessments and is offered only conditionally.

What is the expected time commitment?

Candidates should expect continuous academic engagement over approximately 20 months (12 months coursework + 8 months dissertation).

Is the program suitable for part-time professionals?

The program is designed for professionals, but the workload is substantial. The structure is not compatible with candidates seeking minimal or credential-only engagement.

Strong candidates for even on technical track have managed to graduate with part-time, thanks to the online-only nature of the program, however, a majority of them have temporarily sustained employment for study, which is one reason that we do not recommend the Technical Track.

Is there offline support or local instruction?

No. All instruction follows the formal program structure. There is no local tutoring, offline coursework, or supplemental instruction outside the defined curriculum.

How does invitation-based admission work?

Invitations are issued at the discretion of the academic committee. There is no open call, ranking-based intake, or competitive application pool.

Are additional public recruitment announcements planned?

No additional public recruitment announcements are scheduled.
